The Good News Shed is a welcoming and inclusive community workshop based in the vibrant city of Brighton. We provide a safe, supportive space where people can come together to socialise, learn new skills, and work on practical projects. Our aim is to reduce social isolation and loneliness, support mental health, and promote wellbeing, whilst enjoying good company, shared creativity, and, of course, a cup of tea and a biscuit or two.
 

We actively encourage skill-sharing and peer learning, supported by a dedicated team of passionate volunteers. Our activities include woodworking, woodturning, 3D printing, crafting, and gardening. All are offered free of charge to our members, ensuring the Shed is accessible to anyone who may benefit.
 

The Good News Shed brings together people from all walks of life to connect, converse, and create, whether working on personal projects or collaborating on initiatives that benefit the wider community.
 

We are honoured to be part of the wider “Men Sheds” movement; we follow a grassroots model in which each Shed is shaped by its members and local needs. Originating in Australia to support men’s health and wellbeing, the movement has grown into a global network that now welcomes people of all backgrounds, making Sheds a vital and inclusive community resource. There are now over 580 Sheds across the UK, with many more developing. The Good News Shed proudly contributes to this growing movement as a truly inclusive space for Brighton and the surrounding community.
 

Established as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) and registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales (1219288) in August 2026, The Good News Shed was created to carry forward the legacy of the previous local shed following its closure. Originally founded and run by Neil Hilton and the team at Good News Brighton, it ensures the community continues to have a place to belong.
